THEATLON Kick-Off Meeting in Portugal
2 minutes reading
What happens when theatre meets movement - and a group of people from four countries come together to explore it?
That’s exactly what we started discovering on 11-12 March 2026 in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, during the first THEATLON meeting, hosted by Rosto Solidário.
From the beginning, it didn’t feel like a typical meeting. Yes, we talked about timelines, communication, and all the practical things - but very quickly the conversation shifted to something more interesting: how do we actually make physical education a space where everyone feels included?
Ideas were flying around the room. Different experiences, different perspectives - and suddenly, what started as a project on paper began to feel real.

But the most interesting part?
We didn’t just talk about it - we tried it.
On the second day, we got up, moved, experimented, and honestly… had a lot of fun doing it. The exercises were inspired by aikido, focusing on balance, awareness, and connection with others rather than strength or competition.

There were moments of laughter, a bit of confusion, a lot of curiosity - and exactly the kind of energy you need at the beginning of something new.
Some things worked instantly. Others didn’t - and that was just as valuable. Because this is what THEATLON is about: exploring, testing, and figuring things out together.

By the end of the meeting, one thing was clear - this project is not just about creating a methodology. It’s about creating a different kind of experience. One where movement is not about performance or competition, but about expression, connection, and feeling comfortable in your own body.
We left Portugal with new ideas, new questions, and a strong sense that this is only the beginning.
And honestly - we’re excited to see where this goes.
